Erik is the head of Husch Blackwell’s AI, Cybersecurity, and Data Privacy practice groups, Erik leverages his strategic perspective to help clients navigate complex compliance, risk management, and regulatory challenges. He is certified by the IAPP in U.S. privacy law (CIPP/US), privacy program management (CIPM), and AI governance (AIGP), and holds a certificate in AI Strategy from Cornell University, supporting his advisory work in data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Erik is a retired Navy Captain and former civilian attorney in the Office of General Counsel at the National Security Agency, where he advised on cybersecurity and data privacy during the COVID pandemic. His 30+ years of combined military and government service—including 10 years as a naval aviator and 20 years as a naval intelligence officer—provided deep expertise in threat modeling, incident response, and regulatory risk assessment.
