Cybersecurity and technologies exist to serve the business, not the technology itself. Often this creates a level of frustration among the technologist often asking the “why are they doing this”. But as InfoSec professionals we can help shape the business by transitioning into these roles with greater impact on the business, versus just impact on the technology. For example: a cybersecurity professional in healthcare may consider furthering their career by entering healthcare administration roles, still leveraging their cybersecurity skills. Growing both non-technical and leadership skills within our individual vertical is how we can create an impact to our business community.
